Concrete Talk Vol. 001: The 411 on My Best Friend’s Business

Bestie… Pull Up a Chair. Let Me Give You the 411 on My Best Friend’s Business.

If you know me, then you should already know I don’t gas people up just because we’ve been friends for years.

Matter of fact… if you’re wrong, I’m probably the first one to tell you.

So when I tell you I’m proud of my best friend, understand it ain’t because we’re close.

It’s because I’ve watched the work.

See, social media got people thinking businesses just… happen.

You post a cute picture.

Go viral.

Wake up rich.

Babyyyyyy… that’s 👏🏽 not 👏🏽 how 👏🏽 this 👏🏽 works. 👏🏽

Y’all see the pretty website.

The cute clothes.

The polished photos.

The branding.

The books.

The confidence.

But what you don’t see is the late nights when everybody else done went to sleep.

You don’t see somebody researching products because she refuses to sell anything she wouldn’t wear herself.

You don’t see somebody rebuilding a website for the fifteenth time because she knows it can be better.

You don’t see somebody teaching herself marketing, SEO, photography, branding, customer service, writing books, editing books, learning new software, and somehow still showing up every single day.

That part doesn’t go viral.

The grind never does.

And here’s what I love most…

She has never expected people to support her because life has been hard.

She’s never said, “Feel sorry for me.”

Instead she says…

“Let me earn your business.”

Now THAT?

That’s different.

Because anybody can ask you to buy something.

Not everybody spends years trying to become better so they deserve your trust.

That’s what separates a business from a brand.

A brand has a heartbeat.

A personality.

A story.

And Rose in Concrete has all three.

Now let me say something that might ruffle a few feathers…

Some of y’all will spend $120 at a store where the CEO doesn’t know you exist…

…but hesitate to spend $40 supporting somebody who’s actually trying to build a legacy.

Make that make sense. 🙄

Small businesses don’t have million-dollar commercials.

They don’t have celebrity endorsements.

Half the time they have one person wearing ten different hats.

CEO.

Customer service.

Marketing department.

Shipping department.

Social media manager.

Photographer.

Accountant.

Problem solver.

Coffee maker.

And occasionally… therapist. 😂

So every order means something.

Not because one sale magically changes somebody’s life…

But because one sale says,

“I see what you’re building… and I believe in it.”

That’s a powerful thing.

Now don’t get it twisted…

If Rose in Concrete ain’t your style, that’s okay too.

Everything isn’t made for everybody!!

But if you see somebody out here genuinely trying…

Share the page.

Tell a friend.

Drop a like.

Recommend them.

Support doesn’t always have to come with a receipt.

Sometimes opening a door for somebody is just as valuable.

And if you do happen to find something you love over at Rose in Concrete…

Even better.

Because now you didn’t just buy an outfit.

You became part of somebody’s story.

My best friend’s story at that!

And that’s something no department store can sell.

Now…

That’s enough of me talking.

Go see what all the fuss is about.

I’ll be over here minding my girl’s business next week. 😏

Until then…

Stay cute.

Stay confident.

And don’t forget to clap for people while they’re still building.
